Overall development – a goal every educational institution strives to achieve, be it school or college.  School activities play a significant part in the development of students. They have become a fundamental part of school life and aides in improving students learning at school.

Co-curricular activities are designed and balanced with the academic curriculum so that every student gets to learn beyond subjects. On the other hand, extracurricular activities help to develop creativity and artistic talents among students. These activities are intended to bring social & intellectual skills, moral, cultural & ethical values, personality development, and character advancement in students.

At our institution, Our Lady of Nazareth High School and Junior College, we organize and host a variety of co-curricular and extracurricular activities. The aim of these is to train our students, from their earlier years, in the art of public speaking and to discover and develop dramatic and innate talents among the students. Our students have excelled in various inter-school activities. Prizes are awarded annually for the best individual/group performers.

Performing Arts

The performing arts in education provide students with the opportunity to engage the mind, the body, and emotions into a collaborative expression of all that it means to be human. Students are trained in various dance styles like Western, Bollywood, as well as Indian Dance Forms like Bharatnatyam, etc. There are also Music Classes wherein we teach Western Instruments like Electronic Keyboard & Guitar as per the Trinity Exam Pattern. It provides them with cultural exposure and builds aesthetic awareness. Our school organizes regular art and craft activities as well as inter-class competitions. Every year, our students excel in different levels of drawing exams. The school also organizes annual exhibitions to showcase the artwork of the students of all classes.

Literary arts have a very important role to play in the development of a student. We have  ‘Abacus’ classes on Thursdays on the school premises.  These classes are held by private institutions. Abacus learning not only helps with the basic calculations like addition, multiplication, subtraction, and division, it also helps in effective counting of decimal points, negative numbers, etc. When students learn to use an abacus, they use their hands and a tool with beads to calculate numbers.
